The Iraqi Ministry of Oil reported the rapid extinguishing of a fire at the Fao oil depot in Basra province. The fire, caused by a lightning strike, was extinguished by the oil company and civil defense forces in a record 60 minutes.

The Iraqi Ministry of Oil announced that it had brought under control a fire that broke out in one of the crude oil tanks at the Fao oil depot in Basra province, southern Iraq, due to a lightning strike. In a statement, the ministry indicated that 'the fire was brought under control in record time (one hour) by the safety teams of the Basra Oil Company in cooperation with the Civil Defense of Fao city in Basra province'.
