The administrative board of the Iraqi Duhok Sports Club decided on Friday to appoint Iraqi coach Ahmed Khalif as the head coach of its first football team, which competes in the Iraqi Stars League. Khalif replaces the former coach Abdel Ghani Shehd, who resigned after his team lost 0-2 to their guests, Erbil FC, in round 23 of the competition. The media office of the Duhok Sports Club said in a brief statement: 'The Gulf playoff man Ahmed Khalif is now with the Duhok team.' It is worth noting that Ahmed Khalif had previously coached Duhok two seasons ago and succeeded in qualifying them for the Arab Gulf Clubs Cup after defeating Al-Zawraa 3-0 in a 'playoff' match due to Al-Zawraa's refusal to play that game in protest against the federation's decision.
