In Iraq, a new play collection by Ahmed Al-Majid, "Forbidden Touch and Other Plays," has been published. The book, released by the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, features five plays. Each offers a sophisticated vision through the distinctive style of the Iraqi author. The collection begins with "Cut from a Tree," followed by "A Matter of Time," "Repercussions," and the titular play "Forbidden Touch," inspired by Stefan Zweig's short story "The Hidden Circle." The final play, "Assembly," reimagines historical figures like Tabet Shar, Antar ibn Shaddad, Zarka al-Yamamia, and Zir Saalam in dialogue with a contemporary character. Ahmed Al-Majid has authored numerous books and theatrical studies in the UAE, including "Questions of Sand," "The Text of the Board," and "The Critical State of the Noble Lord."
