Adnan Darjal, President of the Iraqi Football Federation, stated on Sunday that there is no intention to postpone the Iraqi Football Federation elections scheduled for the 23rd of next month. Darjal said: «Everything that has been spread and circulated in the past days that I am trying to postpone the elections is incorrect, and the elections will be held on their scheduled date, and there is nothing that would justify postponing them». He explained that «the Iraqi Football Federation elections will be held on the date set by the International Federation (FIFA), and we are proceeding with preparing for them and participating in them». He added, «The reputation of Iraq and the interest of football are more important to me than any position, so I am very keen on the interest of Iraqi football and the Iraqi national team, which awaits a major national mission in the upcoming World Cup». He continued, «There are great efforts we are making now to prepare the Iraqi national football team for participation in the upcoming World Cup, and we are seeking to secure high-level matches, so that it appears in a very good image at the most important global event».
