Yesterday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani discussed with French President Emmanuel Macron the situation with ISIS detainees transferred to Iraq. They also reviewed security conditions in Syria, particularly in areas surrounding prisons holding ISIS elements. Earlier, Syria's Interior Ministry announced it had taken over Al-Aktan prison in Raqqa, previously controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and that its engineering teams had defused explosive devices planted by the terrorist group. Two Iraqi security officials stated that the first batch of ISIS detainees handed over to Baghdad as part of the U.S. operation to transfer them from Syria includes Europeans who were prominent leaders in the extremist organization. Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reported that U.S. officials are considering a full withdrawal of American forces from Syria.
