The High Electoral Commission in Iraq announced on Monday that the final election results have been confirmed, showing the list of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani leading with 46 seats out of 329 in the parliament. Earlier, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani confirmed that the "Reconstruction and Development" coalition he leads is topping the legislative election results, following the initial results announced by the Independent High Electoral Commission, which showed it secured the highest number of votes. The formation of the new government may take several months amidst struggles to form a majority. In a televised speech, al-Sudani said: "We congratulate you on your coalition winning first place in the House of Representatives elections."
